Introducing Our Trekking Guide
Rina Takaya
From Hokkaido / English Available
Since 2016, has worked as a guide in the national parks of the mountainous region of Western Canada, and later began guiding in Hokkaido. Guiding areas include Daisetsuzan National Park, the Rishiri–Rebun area, the Niseko area, and Eastern Hokkaido. Since 2022, on Rishiri Island the main focus has been guiding on Mt. Rishiri, as well as Hime-numa Pond, Otatomari-numa Pond, and Minamihama Wetland. On Rebun Island, guides guests on the island’s trekking courses according to their experience and skill level.
We offer a wide range of guided tours, from alpine mountains to satoyama landscapes. We specialize in alpine plants and the natural environment. We’ll support you so that your experience on Rebun Island becomes an unforgettable memory.
Qualifications:
・Mountain Guide / Nature Guide (Hokkaido Governor-certified Hokkaido Outdoor Guide for summer and winter mountaineering, nature)
・Wilderness First Responder
・Hokkaido Adventure Travel (summer and winter mountaineering, nature)

Trekking Courses
For each course, you can choose between a mixed-group tour or a private tour plan.
Physical fitness levels vary by course. Please refer to the following guidelines before applying.
| ★ | Walking distance: 2 km or more, or walking time: approximately 2 hours |
| ★★ | Walking distance: 6 km or more, or walking time: approximately 4 hours |
| ★★★ | Walking distance: 8 km or more, or walking time: approximately 5 hours |
| ★★★★ | Walking distance: 10 km or more, or walking time: approximately 6 hours |
*Difficulty levels are classified into five stages based mainly on walking distance and required time, assuming personal use by middle-aged and older women.

Momoiwa-Shiretoko Traverse Course
Fitness Level: ★★
The classic trekking course on Rebun Island.
The island’s most popular route, following the ridgeline from Momoiwa Observatory while encountering colorful flowers.

Rebun Falls Course
Fitness Level: ★★★★
This course heads toward Rebun Falls, the largest waterfall on the island.
Enjoy the island’s beautiful scenery while viewing colorful alpine plants, including the island’s signature flower, the “Rebun Usuyukiso” (best seen from June to July).
*This is an intermediate to advanced course, featuring steep slopes where you must descend using ropes.

Cape Tour Course
Fitness Level: ★★★
This scenic trekking course visits three capes—Cape Sukoton at the northernmost tip of Rebun Island, Cape Gorota, and Cape Sukai. In addition to flowers and nature, you can enjoy views of the clear sea on sunny days.

Early Morning Momoiwa Observatory Course

This course allows you to leisurely explore Rebun’s nature in peaceful silence during the early morning hours when there are fewer people. It’s a round trip from the hotel to Momoiwa Observatory, perfect for a morning walk before checkout.
